Why and Who? Causal Attribution and Social Class As Factors in Helping Behavior Among Adolescents

Abstract

This experiment examines the relation among social class, attributions, and prosocial behavior. Recipient’s social class and problem cause were manipulated; type of help provided and amount of donation were measured. The results show significant differences in helping based on causal attributions and the interaction of attribution and social class.
