Abstract
Why do some people feel better after crying whereas others feel worse? As predicted, attitudes toward crying matter. Compared to individuals who view crying positively (e.g., crying is healthy), individuals with a negative attitude towards crying (e.g., crying is embarrassing) felt worse after being exposed to an emotional film.
