Self-Distancing Can Increase Help Seeking Intentions Among People with Depression

Abstract

Study one shows that a written self-distancing task is effective in increasing intentions to seek help among people with heightened depressive symptomatology. Two additional studies suggest video self-distancing inductions are not effective, perhaps because they are less cognitively effortful.
