I Feel Less Blue When I Read with You: The Effect of Shared Reading on the Adult Reader’s Affect

Abstract
This three condition experiment investigates the affective effects of a shared book reading experience on the adult reader compared to reading a children’s book aloud alone or a non-reading interaction with a child. Preliminary results demonstrate that reading with a child increases the positive mood of the reader.
