How We Perceive Social Consequences of Unethical Behavior

Abstract
One-hundred-seventy American and Indian participants read vignettes where protagonists were pressured by either close friends or family to engage in unethical activities. Results indicated that family pressure was more influential, but Indians were more concerned about friends. More pressure resulted in decreased feelings of responsibility as cultural differences emerged.
