Abstract

Humor-based coping may inhibit ruminative brooding, and/or promote problem-solving. 168 MTurk participants completed the Brief COPE Humor subscale (and others) and RRS trait rumination scales. As predicted, humor coping was positively correlated with Rumination-Reflection (problem-processing). Contrary to hypotheses, humor coping was positively correlated with Rumination-Depression, and unrelated to Rumination-Brooding.
