Making the Tough Call: Help-Seeking As an Arena for the Construction of Masculinities

This mixed-methods study illustrates how men harness and selectively deploy cultural understandings of masculinity within the context of help-seeking. A model is proposed which integrates societal, social, and personal levels of analysis and a process-based model of gender is discussed, along with the implications it has for understanding men’s help-seeking.
