Abstract

Does belief in pure evil (BPE; the tendency to attribute harm-doing to dispositionally sadistic individuals) predict differences in perceiving/evaluating a Black vs. White shooter (N = 303 MTurk workers)? People scoring higher in BPE reported that the Black shooter was more liable and blameworthy, but did not recommend harsher punishment.
