Abstract
We manipulated perspective taking and used two self-other differentiation tasks (Aron, Aron, & Smollan, 1992; Batson et al., 1997). The perspective-taking manipulation led to more self-partner differentiation among geographically close romantic intimates in the imagine-other condition versus stay-objective condition. No such self-partner differentiation effects were observed among long-distance intimates.
