Abstract

We examined whether exposing college students with ADHD to positive or negative stereotypes about the disorder would change their self-perceptions, thereby changing their working memory. Stereotypes did not influence self-perceptions, and, contrary to previous research, those exposed to negative stereotypes outperformed those exposed to positive stereotypes on working memory measures.
