Numeracy, Mood, and Message Framing Affect Cancer Risk Perception

Abstract

Participants were shown cancer patient scenarios, which involved both loss and gain framing, in a neutral and negative affect condition. Findings suggest that a person’s numerate ability and current mood, as well as how the information is presented, can greatly impact their cancer risk perception.
