Abstract

This study used meta-analytic techniques to address how interpersonal dependency moderates therapeutic outcome. Thirty-one studies (52 effect sizes; overall N = 3,807) examining the dependency-therapeutic outcome relationship were obtained. High levels of dependency were associated with more positive outcome in psychodynamic therapy, and less positive outcome in pharmacological treatment.
