The Roles of Avoidance Temperament and Rumination in Depressive Symptoms

Abstract

Avoidance and approach temperament are associated with depression, although the nuances explaining these relationships are not understood. The present study tested the contributions of avoidance and rumination to depression. Results demonstrate that, elevated avoidance is associated with depression, though only for individuals with high rumination.
