Abstract
We examined the role of self-esteem and positive emotions on persistence after a failure. The indirect effect of failure on persistence through positive emotions (mediator) is moderated by self-esteem. After a failure, only low self-esteem individuals experienced less positive emotions which in turn were associated with less persistence.
