Parenting and Adolescent Self-Control: A Meta-Analysis

Abstract

A multi-level meta-analysis was conducted to summarize the association between parenting and self-control in adolescence. Results revealed significant concurrent (ES=.207, p<.001), longitudinal (ES=.158,p<.001) and reverse longitudinal (ES=.156,p<.001) relations. These links were not moderated by culture, ethnicity, age, and parent or child gender.
