Abstract
We examined how race/ethnicity and marital status intersect to influence the psychological distress and cigarette smoking relation. The sample size included 12,968 adults ages 30 years and older from four HINTS cycles. We found that unmarried cohabiting non-Hispanic Blacks have higher rates of smoking and psychological distress than other groups.
