Frame Your Deadline: The Effect of Deadline Framing on Task Participation

Abstract

Despite setting deadlines, we still miss them frequently. This study tested whether different deadline framing would change people’s likelihood to participate in a task. The results indicated that people are more likely to participate when deadlines are framed with future reference points than when framed with present reference points.
