Adult Attachment Orientation and Partner-Regulation: Tendencies and Affective Responses

College students with high attachment anxiety reported more attempts to regulate the behavior of their romantic partners than high attachment avoidance students. These attempts included direct-negative, indirect-negative, and direct-positive messages. High anxious students also experienced more negative reactions when they were the target of partner regulation attempts.
