Abstract

We tested how external (i.e., company advertisements) and internal (i.e., employee reviews of a company) cues influence 200 African Americans’ personal and company evaluations. The data suggest that African Americans may be skeptical of organizational diversity messages, instead reacting to information concerning what the company is truly like.
