Abstract
This study examines the developmental trajectories of listening comprehension, working memory, word decoding and comprehension skills (e.g., text memory, text inferencing) for kindergarten children. The results showed that children who fail to acquire reading component skills early, frequently catch up to their more skilled counterparts by Grade 2.
