Abstract

Using 10-year longitudinal data we examined the impact of retirement on ‘Big 5’ personality measures. We found retirement related to mean- and individual-level change in agreeableness and extroversion, but not the rank order stability of any of the Big 5. Recognizing personality change can help us better understand retirement adjustment.
