Segmentation of the Human Body: How Does the Visual System Define Body Parts?

This study investigated whether the visual system segments human bodies based on the ability to perform actions or via form discontinuities, similar to inanimate objects. Using explicit and implicit measures, we found body-specific part divisions based on both form and function, with effector discontinuities differing from other limb divisions.
