Reappraisal in Context: How Socioeconomic Status Moderates Concurrent and Longitudinal Associations with Anxiety

Abstract

Two studies investigated how socioeconomic status (SES) moderates the reappraisal-anxiety link, analyzing performance-based (Study 1) and self-reported (Study 1 and 2) reappraisal in laboratory-based (Study 1) and longitudinal (Study 2) samples. Across studies, reappraisal predicted lower anxiety at low SES levels but not or less so at high SES levels.
