Abstract

This study investigated whether synchronous activity may induce immoral behavior that would be of benefit to in-group members by using ‘die-under-the-cup’ experiment. The results show that participants in the synchronous condition lied significantly more than in the asynchronous condition. Also, they reported higher levels of self-other overlap and perceived cooperation.
