Abstract
An experiment tested the efficacy of communications about the functions of an attitude or communications about the functions of an attitude object on transportation attitudes. Meta-arguments about the benefits of more positive attitudes increased intentions to use public transportation. These effects were moderated by participants’ political and environmental orientation.
