Abstract

An estimated 13 percent of youths have clinically significant mental health problems, many of which are linked to poor emotional self-regulation. By using linguistic characteristics associated with children’s cognitive control capacities, we improve prediction of polite and frustrated speech. These analyses will contribute to developing automatic methods identifying poor self-regulation.
