Mental Health and Activism Among College Students: The Role of Race, Stereotype Threat, and Identity Friction

Abstract
College students, particularly those from underrepresented minority backgrounds, are stressed and politically engaged. Why? Using data from a selective private university, we find that stereotype threat and identity friction are associated with decreased mental health and increased engagement in activism.
