Abstract

Previous studies indicated that inhibiting competing items might facilitate retrieval of a target. Our participants inhibited some competing items through the Think/No-Think technique, but it did not facilitate target retrieval. It is reasoned that there could be more competing items than one can inhibit in this paradigm.
