Abstract

This study sought to test whether greater sexual minority stress is predictive of higher rates of substance abuse, as well as increased endorsement of coping motives, in a sample of 642 LGBTQ+ individuals. Minority stress did not directly predict substance disorders, but it did significantly predict coping motives.
