Abstract

Zouhoumen (literally, through the back door) is a common guanxi (literally, personal connection) practice in Chinese society. This vignette study looks into Chinese people’s attitudes towards two types of zouhoumen (facilitative and expropriative) and differences in attitudes related to socioeconomic status of respondents and of the actors in the vignettes.
