Abstract

This study examined the role of threat appraisal and neuroticism in recalling aversive laboratory stimuli. Participants were randomly assigned to a control and an aversive video. Threat appraisals mediated the effect of the video on memory. Neuroticism moderated this effect. A replication confirmed both the mediational and moderation finding.
