Abstract

Most people want to change their personality traits. The present research tested whether engaging in behaviors typical of desired personality traits (e.g., highly extraverted behaviors) predicted corresponding trait growth. Data from 377 participants followed for up to 16 weeks suggested that engaging in more numerous trait-typical behaviors predicted trait growth.
