Inquiry-Based Coursework Enhances Students’ Scientific Thinking and Confidence in Using the Scientific Method

Abstract

Students from inquiry-based courses were tracked for increases in scientific epistemology, along with increases in their confidence in applying the scientific method. Our findings support the implementation of such coursework, supported by increases in students’ scientific index scores and confidence in building hypothesis statements, identifying appropriate methodology, and collecting data.
