The Effects of Surface Acting on Customer Satisfaction in Aerobic Exercise

Abstract

Organizational psychologists study emotional labor as a negative antecedent for employee burnout but have not investigated its effects on the customer. This study explored manipulated exercise instructor affect state on participant satisfaction and found that participants are attentive to subtle emotional cues, however this did not affect their experience.
