Whispers at Work: The Relationship between Gossip Use, Social Identity and Achievement Striving

Abstract

Participants answered questions assessing work group collective self-esteem, achievement striving, work ties, future work self and gossip behaviors at work. Results indicate that gossip is positively related to achievement striving but negatively related to work CSE, work group ties, and future work self.
