Socioeconomic Status, Deafness, and Theory of Mind

Abstract

We investigated theory of mind (ToM) with a diverse population of 196 children: Deaf, low SES, and high SES. Using the ToM scale, we found that Deaf children are not as delayed in ToM as previously suggested, yet perform similarly to hearing children from low SES backgrounds.
