Abstract
Despite its growing popularity, there has been no investigation of the effects of 2nd vs 3rd person versions of the trolley problem. We found that for 3rd, but not 2nd, person scenarios, utilitarian decisions were associated with decreased authoritarianism and increased cognitive reflection.
