Abstract

The role of cognitive flexibility and cognitive inhibition on second graders’ syntactic awareness skill, a skill related to reading ability, was examined in this research. Multiple regression results indicated that cognitive inhibition predicted syntactic awareness beyond the contribution of cognitive flexibility. Educational implications of the findings are discussed.
