Explicit, Not Implicit, Evaluations Reflect Model-Based Learning

Abstract
Participants learned transitions from novel groups to second-stage stimuli to rewards. After reversing rewards following second-stage stimuli in a reward revaluation paradigm, explicit (self-reported) group evaluations reflected both initial and novel learning, whereas implicit (indirectly measured) evaluations reflected only initial learning. Model-based learning may uniquely characterize explicit attitude acquisition.
