Abstract

We investigated whether presenting participants with audio or written prime words produced cognitive biases in interpreting and evaluating degraded audio recordings. Participants exhibited confirmation bias by misinterpreting degraded words after being primed with similar-sounding clear words. Participants also exhibited hindsight bias by overestimating others’ ability to identify degraded words.
