Perception of Black Athletes

Three experiments investigate the stereotype activation/inhibition of black athletes as a sub-type. Experiment one explored participants’ familiarity of components comprising the stereotypes of the black athlete. Experiment two examined whether knowledge of this stereotype can influence how people judge a black athlete; with experiment three examining what exactly is inhibited.
