Abstract

Exploration of the relationship between self-defining memories (SDMs) and criminal status demonstrated that offenders, regardless of mental health, endorsed phenomenological characteristics of SDMs of their transgressive self at a higher level than community controls. Aggression significantly differed across groups; the association between aggression and age at SDM did not differ.
