Abstract

Reflexive Imagery Tasks were developed to demonstrate two forms of involuntary memorial processes: involuntary “refreshing” and musical imagery (e.g., “Mary had a little… ”). Refreshing, which is the re-activating in mind of a mental image or percept, occurred involuntarily on roughly 50% of the trials (mean latency ~ 1.5 s).
