Abstract

This research examined effects of mortality salience on perceptions of an interrogator’s intentions toward the suspect, and of the wisdom of the suspect’s confession as a means to achieve optimal legal outcomes. Mortality salience significantly predicted perceptions of interrogator beneficence toward the suspect, which predicted the perceived wisdom of confession.
