Abstract
This study demonstrates that the experience of anger was associated with elevated levels of systemic inflammation (IL-6) in advanced (80+), but not in early (65-79), old age. No associations were found with sadness. These findings highlight the distinct functions and implications of specific emotions on health across older adulthood.
