Abstract
We investigated whether reflection could mitigate negative affect (NA) and lead to more positive reactions following negative work performance feedback. Unexpectedly, participants randomly assigned to the reflection condition reported higher NA and lower perceived clarity, suggesting that, contrary to the literature, reflection after feedback may engender rumination and counterproductive reactions.
