Abstract
We analyzed the prevalence of binning (categorizing age) and the study characteristics associated with binning for two samples of child eyewitness articles (no redundant authors and most recent qualifying articles). Only the study design significantly predicted this problematic practice: 76% of experimental designs binned age versus 23% of correlational designs.
