The Impact of Affective Arousal on Monitoring Processes in Extended Emotion Regulation

Abstract

Recent research has explored the emotion regulation (ER) as a dynamic process. A novel experimental task explored the effect of affective arousal on participants’ decision to switch or continue using ER strategies. Results showed that greater negative affect was associated with an increased probability of switching strategies.
