Abstract
Individuals engage in social interactions for social rewards. However, social rewards have negative valences for socially anxious individuals. Those who fear interpersonal interactions perceived social rewards negatively. Perspective taking was also linked with social rewards. We propose that the benefits of social rewards may be altruistically shared with others.
