Abstract

Theory posits two dimensions of culturally sensitive (CS) health communication: surface and deep structure. In a randomized 2x2 experiment, information recall of oral health pamphlets showed significant positive main effects for CS images and CS written messages. Causal mechanisms require further investigation. Implications for mhealth and ehealth applications are discussed.
